Preferred job length Adjusts the average length of the jobs generated by the game. Traffic offense If enabled, the player will receive Fines if they commit a traffic infraction. ATS won't ever realistically catch up to ETS2(unless SCS moves onto ETS3 or something else and drops support for ETS2) but it has a bright future and i'll be here trying my best to support SCS as they build their way from one coast to another.Game settings Fatigue simulation If enabled, the player must rest in-game regularly in order not to fall into the state of drowsiness. ETS2 obviously being the one with the bigger community because of its age and how long it has been supported. So if you're willing to wait a couple of years for a good portion of the US to get completed and drivable then go for it.īoth games are good in different ways. Much like ETS2 when it started, it'll expand out and eventually get more drivable miles and licensed trucks. The base map itself is the size of the ETS2 base but it's alot less roads. It only has four trucks from the same company, Paccar, but I assume we'll get more eventually. Now, on the other hand, ATS itself has a much nicer base game because its base was built from scratch(redone once due to the rescale) instead of ported over from ETS in the case of ETS2. The map is also much larger than the ATS side of things with the DLC that they have. ETS2 has alot more trucks in general from a wide variety of different brands giving you the ability to find what trucks you like driving the most. Perhaps you will too.Īs someone who played ETS2 a year after it launched with just the base game, go for ETS2. Many, many of us play both games quite happily. Realistically you won't find us telling you there's really a wrong choice. I would for sure try the demo for both games so you can see first hand what they are like.

ATS has some nice mods and large communities like ProMods are trying to make headway into the ATS side of things though with things like the rescale and some significant base map tweaks they aren't getting very far very fast.

There is a similar amount of area covered but I believe ETS2 would still have more miles of road.ĮTS2 has a lot.more mod support because in part it's age and because it's the home territory for a large portion of the current modding community, or at least closer to it/connected. If you will not buy DLCs then ATS has a newer, nicer base map than ETS2.

#AMERICAN TRUCK SIMULATOR VS EURO TRUCK SIMULATOR 2 UPDATE#
ProMods requires all ETS2 DLCs except Italia currently though you should expect they will require that DLC as well with the next update or so. If you will buy the DLCs then ETS2 has more content available and you can further expand the map by adding ProMods. Otherwise what everyone says is pretty much accurate. To me, they're just different DLC's to the same game at this point, letting me play as a world-wide transport magnate immune to jet lag. And for anybody who starts out in ETS2 but wants to try something a little different, pick up ATS and open up a branch in the US and come drive our funny looking trucks through a different kind of countryside. I've pretty much maxed out ATS and am focusing on ETS2 now, but still switch back and forth just to mix things up. Then you'll plunk down for the DLC to keep driving, And there's a lot of it. Then you'll look at your company and think, "I should open up a branch in Europe." You'll buy ETS2 on sale and realize that even though they drive those funny looking trucks and the street signs are different colors, you've got all new roads to drive and cities to explore. Then comes the DLC like Heavy Cargo that gets you to do it all over again.

If you get hooked, before long you'll realize you've been everywhere on the map, bought up all the property you can and hired all the drivers you can.
